‘Johns’ Runnerbean Chutney featured on BBC2 'Top of the Shop' hosted by Tom Kerridge. Also known as Green Bean or Runner Bean, this chutney is our family friend. Honest, never disappoints and true, great with cold meats and cheeses!!! We have been devouring this chutney as a family for at least 40 years.
John started growing long beans to enter at shows, during this same period, he has created what we think is the perfect runner bean, fleshy, sweet, full of flavour and extralong. Perfect for chutney. getting the perfect set of runner beans to enter into a show is a tricky matter and Pam was soon overrun with them.
From this a traditional family recipe was brought out of the archives, and she started producing this chutney. Each year the amount increased and so did the beans! We grew and harvested in excess of 300kg of our own beans in 2017!!
Runnerbeans (28%), sugar, Onions, Vinegar (barley, sodium Sulphite),cornflour, turmeric, mustard Powder, salt
Once opened, store in a cool dark place and consume within 6 weeks
